Welcome to Complex Orebodies 2018
Demand for most commodities is continuing to increase, and future demand is unlikely to be met by new discoveries and recycling alone. This gap in supply will need to be met by Complex Orebodies which are either unviable due to low grades or other technical challenges or inaccessible due to political unrest, social outrage and/or environmental barriers. The future challenge of the Mining, METS and Research sectors is to innovate and change practice to allow cost effective access to these Complex Orebodies in a way that also enables sustainable development.
AusIMM are partnering with the Sustainable Minerals Institute to host a conference which aims to cover the spectrum of challenges faced by Complex Orebodies. Featuring seven high quality Keynote Speakers and a range of technical presentations drawn from a mix of corporate leaders, operators, service providers, financial institutions and researchers, the conference will lay out insights gained from case studies of existing complex orebodies; analysis of the future technical, social, political and environmental landscape as it affects mining; and from contributions detailing innovative extraction approaches with potential to revolutionise mineral supply.
